GA3: SOCHUM

The United Nations General Assembly Third Committee: SOCHUM (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee) was established for the Declaration of Human Rights. SOCHUM committee is responsible for addressing the social issues of global politics and matters regarding protecting fundamental human rights and eliminating racism and discrimination. This committee has a key position in social development and shaping policies seeking to ensure peace and security for humanitarian.

In the MUNB'25 , GA:3(SOCHUM) committee will be discussing and cooperating on "Deliberation on concrete actions for the elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance and the comprehensive implementation of and follow-up to the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action” agenda item.

In reflecting on the World Conference, the Declaration and Programme of Action provide an innovative anti-discrimination agenda, and, as such, comprise a crucial role in emerging global dialogue on how to eliminate the misery of racial discrimination from the world. For a long time, the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance has continued worldwide, especially in Africa.

Delegates of this committe are expected to adopt actions that states may take to address these issues will be aimed to be closely examined which include the adoption of legislative changes, educational activities, and international cooperation, as well as their approaches to encourage human rights, tolerance, and solidarity.
